I didn't feel comfortable watching fictional lives being created around a factual disaster that effected many real lives. The TV series is ten times more compelling and detailed. This just seemed misguided.

Chernobyl: Abyss is a Russian film about the Chernobyl disaster directed by and starring Danila Kozlovsky alongside Oksana Akinshina as his love interest.
It’s almost impossible to watch this movie without the excellent HBO miniseries covering the same disaster competing for attention in your head. The aesthetic similarities between the two projects are numerous, but also almost entirely superficial. Whereas the miniseries was an in-depth and realistic examination of both the political and humanitarian elements of the disaster, this Russian movie is, somewhat ironically, the Hollywood disaster movie take on the same events. Le empecé a ver un día en familia, pero no la terminamos, otro día puse 20 minutos de fondo y hoy termine de ver los 10 minutos que me faltaban...
Seré honesto, a los 15 minutos ya le estaba poniendo más atención a mi teléfono, solo la termine de ver porque no he visto ninguna película rusa y por algo hay que empezar, también por mi "regla" de que si empiezo algo debo terminarlo.

Como toda historia en la que el desastre nuclear de Chernobyl se vea involucrado, será emotivo, impactante y algo triste, ya que nos muestran la terrible situación que se vivió, pero esta película llevó la historia por un camino algo extraño y no necesariamente el mejor.
Para empezar nos muestran una relación romántica peculiar, lo que no es nada malo, en la que el protagonista es un idiota en dicha relación y toma desiciones cuestionables, pero tampoco es malo ese asunto. La verdad es un protagonista nada encantador con el que no logras empatizar y si tal vez lo hubieran desarrollado más seria mejor, pero lo que si me parece terrible es que convenientemente este protagonista se vea envuelto en… -

Kozlovsky casts himself as a borderline rapist who stalks young women and carjacks a bus to forcibly get his hands on the female love interest who he then shadows, gaslights and sexually assaults before trespassing on her property and trying to upend her life. Did I mention that not only is the female love interest completely content with all of these things, she actually wants him for a significant chunk of the movie? Or that the creepy man is the main fucking character? I tapped out after half an hour of this dreck but presumably their arc gets them back together in the end which is terrifying to me. Kozlovsky should not be allowed out of his house without an ankle monitor, never mind direct another movie.
